Literature Text

Absolute. Total. Utter. Darkness. Deco could see nothing. Not even the tip of his nose.
He felt the impulse to run, bolt, escape, but he didn?t know where. He couldn?t see
anything, so what good would running do.

He ran anyways.

Faster than he had ever ran before. He felt as if his feet were not even touching the
ground.......

In the blink of an eye in was all over. Deco was laying on his side in a bed of straw,
explaining the sensation of his feet not contacting with the ground. He didn?t dare to
move, for fear of waking Ben, and at this hour, that would not end well. He lay there
silently, listening to breathing, his own and that of the other dogs in his corner of the
world. Hours were wasting away as he listened to them breathing.

Eventually, he really had to pee. He felt like he was going to explode. Slowly he rose
from his straw sanctuary, resisting the urge to hold his breath, instead focusing on
alternating silent breaths with silent steps. At this snails pace he made his way to the
doorway, barely visible in the new breaking daylight. Stopping for a moment at the sound
of another dog rolling over, he heard an unspeakably loud thunder crash, and the wretched
pounding of rain.

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no no no No No No No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!?"

He  screamed louder and louder until he got a blindingly painful bite in his left
foreleg. He collapsed, shaking, on the hard concrete floor, relieving himself in the
center of the room. Everything went black.
